The Orissa Association for the Blind is the oldest and pivotal Organization, committed to work for the education, training, rehabilitation and employment of the visually impaired community across the state of Odisha. It was on 29th April,1975 the Orissa Association for the Blind was born in the heart of Bhubaneswar. It was registered on the society registration act in 1976. The then Chief-Minister of Odisha Mr. Nilamani Routray was pleased enough to grant a piece of land in 1977-78 on which the present building stands. In 1981, the 1st Vocational Training Centre for VI adult men and women was established with support from Community Development, Rural and Reconstruction Dept. which got its new name as Social Security and Empowerment persons with Disability (SSEPD). We achieved a new milestone when late Biju Pattanaik agreed to open a Home Management Training Center for women in the year 1991-92.
